The right candidate will problem-solve in an efficient and effective manner to close customer tickets as quickly as possible. This position requires someone who is prepared, organized, and documents their work in order to be successful. Works closely with all levels of staff.
We are currently looking for Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our team.
The position holder will be responsible for support of external and internal customers. More specifically he/she will oversee (part of) the Oracle environment hosting the data of our core products such as Cargospot, or customer specific databases. He/She will ensure cost-effective operation of applications on all employed environments. As his/her tasks involves patching or upgrades on environment running for users in different time zones, flexible working time is a must. After a period of onboarding, the candidate will probably be part of the on-call shifts overnight and weekends.
Responsibilities:
• Administration of Oracle databases, which includes planning, installing, and configuring of database servers
• Implementation of Oracle database changes, patches, and upgrades
• Trend analysis reporting and resource management Problem Solving
• Overseeing of database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases
• Provide technical consultancy and assist on technical issues related to Oracle databases as the backend of software products build by CHAMP Cargosystems
• Validate database requirements and perform database upgrades
• Bridge development and technical teams on technical issues related to Oracle databases
• Inter-database data migration, conversion, and export/import
• Document procedures
• Depending on experience, take the lead of the Oracle DBA team which is composed of 3 DBAs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Oracle Administration Certification
• Exposure to Oracle 11g and above on Linux platform
• Experience with 2 of the 3 following: RMAN, Dataguard, RAC
• Experience with Cloud Control12C; OID, spotlight and toad
• Knowledge of SQL. PL/SQL is an advantage.
• Linux OS and shell scripting knowledge
• Good ability to communicate with customers and IT colleagues
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Able to work autonomously and be flexible with regards to working hours
• Service and customer oriented
• Good English verbal and written communication skills, including writing technical documentation
• ITIL certification / Prince2 certification is an advantage
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant courses
• 5 years related working experience
